High-tech Training
‘Smart’ workout center lets Intel workers go
beyond ‘Sweatin’ to the Oldies’
n
o more dumbbells. Intel
employees in Chandler
now have the chance
to use smart devices
when working out at the
company’s onsite digital fitness center.
The equipment uses the company’s own
Atom and Core 2 Duo processors, which
allows the machines to relay fitness data
to the user. For example, with the CPro
multipurpose fitness machines made by
Core Performance, users can monitor
whether they’re reaching their goals
through period reevaluations. For those
who need diversions while exercising,
media content and delivery systems
from Netpulse give access to on-demand
videos and high-definition television as
well as social media.
The new center was christened last
month with the help of Team USA hockey
goalie Angela Ruggerio. The facility is part
of Intel’s strategy to keep their employees
healthy. Other initiatives include a wellness
program and on-site medical clinic. Intel
hopes the Chandler center inspires other
companies to offers similar equipment
offerings to their own employees.
